Huh? Who? Me?
I’ve been nominated for ‘best tech blog‘. To say I am amused, bemused and confused is an understatement.
Eddie the Eagle
You only have to take a look at the other names on that list to see why I am feeling a certain bond with ‘Eddie the Eagle’ Edwards right now.
When is a blogger not a blogger?
You see, I wouldn’t have considered myself a proper blogger. Just one of the many who happily fool around in a bit of blogging from time-to-time. For the same reason I was taken aback that Damien Mulley banned the likes of myself from attending his training camp.

He responded in his own inimitable style:

He was right of course. Then, out of the blue some others started to nudge me to up my game and get with the program and look after some of the basics.
I *think* I’m beginning to get this now
At the end of the day, as I write this all out, the confusion I am feeling is beginning to dissolve. Realisation is beginning to dawn. Someone somewhere recently said that blogging does that to you. Helps you sort out your thoughts on stuff that you don’t understand to begin with. The blogging community does exactly what it says on the tin. It does community. And it can do community because it operates through conversation. It embraces the underdogs and champions the heroes in equal measure. So thanks to all those who have gently nudged, challenged and encouraged me over the past 11 months. Its been a real eye-opening experience.
***And stop the press. I’ve also been nominated for best blog post.
